Free George Sherrill!!!

This has gone too far. The way this team has given George Sherrill the shaft, in spite of his solid performance and consistent pitching, has completely caused me to blow a fuse. Sending him back down to Tacoma is not going to help this team. I can feel Munchausen's voice in the back of my head whispering "Those emotions aren't real. There are more important things to be upset about than the baseball ideology!" But still, I know I'm outraged.

I'd change the blog name to "FreeGeorgeSherrill" (a la "LeoneForThird") , but I don't have the time to do it, nor the time to create a whole new blog. I will have time to change the tag line, and to establish this blog as the unofficial campaign to Free George Sherrill! As much as I hate to lose him, George Sherrill has shown himself to be a very valuable asset, and would be a strong piece in a trade. And I don't mean "Free George Sherrill (with purchase of a large fries and a Coke)" in that sort of way. I mean, set him free from the clutches of the M's mis-management!

So, Bill, either trade him for something valuable, or keep him on the Seattle team where he can help you.

Enough is enough!

Free George Sherrill!!!

You don't even have to trade him for something valuable! I just want him to be sent somewhere where he can actually contribute to a big league team!

I don't know if you are allowed to disclose this information, but I am curious as to how your brother feels about all this?

I think I am more pissed than he was or is. He understands the politics of the game. I am glad he was up, but at the same time still confused on why the move was even made. They could have not started Campillo, in the game that George was called up - just before. They could have used him for a spot start, instead of Mateo. No one would have had to change roles. No one would have been called up and sent right back down. Now, if anything does happen to someone in the bullpen, they have to wait 10 days before George can come back up, so then who goes?

Also, the best thing, is after they told him, "Good job, see you later" (meaning, I guess, see you soon), George asked them if he should fly back to Albuquerque to play in the AAA game on Monday.

man....well, all i can say is tell him to keep up the good work in tacoma elsid...he should be up again ASAP.

who's in charge of all this weirdness is my question...geez, you'd think they'd have some reason to do all this swtiching around, but there is none seemingly.

i just hope all this maneuvering isn't just so they can release Sele in a 'numbers crunch' or whatever. he should be gone when Joel gets back, followed by a swift Thornton/Nelson for Sherrill swap, leaving Campillo in the rotation and George in the setup/middle spot.

btw, i'm still hoping we can get someone from the minors up here to see if they can take over at SS. Valdez has had some nice moments but he's not going to make us go anywhere. you heard anything from your brother on Mike Morse's defence while he's been down there elsid?

I can answer that one, Felixfastfreight.

I've only been to one Tacoma game this season, but I discuss things with people who attend regularly. The reports on Morse's defense are that it's actually better than people expected. USS Mariner reported that Mike Curto (announcer for T-town) commented that Morse's defense was definitely surprising. Now, that may be because expectations are quite low for his defense. Now if he can only hit the ball well...

He's 23 and developing nicely, I'd say. Definitely someone to keep your eye on.

I would like nothing more than see him pitch for the Ms for us to have a chance.

Hiya Bill- might want to think again with talent on your team like his! Trade him for a team that will use him for what he is worth if you do not. George, seen you pitch and you have it!

If he's not traded to the Orioles this may be the season he gets a full on setup role! i just blogged about it and i think he'd do great.
