Now that's more like it...

Glad to know the M's are still the stupid team I somehow know and love...

I guess I would rather see Bavasi throwing money at Silva than at guys like Josh Fogg or Mike Maroth. Silva is only 28, he was pretty decent in 2005, he was awful in 2006, and back to around average in 2007. I don't like his BAA, but I can see how he might not be too bad at Safeco Field. Who knows, hopefully he can keep his ERA around 4.00 and be at least a .500 pitcher. He should at least be quite a bit better than Jeff Waiver and HorridRam.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and Bavasi is just about always operating in "desperation mode". The problem is, I don't see any reason why he should be feeling desperate. I think the team has Brandon Morrow and Ryan Rowland-Smith ready to step into the rotation when Batista gets too old, and when the FO finally gets tired of Washburn. Adam Jones will be playing OF for somebody for years, I just hope it is with the Mariners. And why even think of getting rid of Wladimir Balentien before he has even had a chance with the M's? And what's this b.s. about sending Sherrill to the Orioles in a Bedard deal?

Arrrrgh.

Also, Bavasi hasn't given away Adam Jones, Morrow and Clement plus maybe more for a couple of years of Bedard... at least not yet... heh...

I agree with snave.

It seems like there's been a lot of anger about the signing of Silva, and while I agree that he's overpaid at 12 mil a year, he seems like an OK pitcher to have. Great control, decent groundball rate...
